Ready for the Golden State

Fall pre-season workouts are underway for Brad and Nolan, as their collegiate baseball journey has moved to Northern California, at the University of the Pacific (Stockton) and California State East Bay (Hayward), respectively.  Playing together since their t-ball days, the twins will be on different baseball teams for the first time in their careers. They bring offensive, defensive and leadership skills to California and are expected to enhance the pool of talented players on their teams…

The 2018 season is just around the corner, and can be viewed in person or follow the team online:

State champs x 2

It’s been an exciting 2016 American Legion season that has continued past the regular season, as the Boise Capitals are currently playing in the Northwest Regionals in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The team won their 2nd State Legion AA championship in as many years, with all-around team play by the players. Both Brad and Nolan contributed to the excitement, providing defensive plays and timely base hits,  including a 3-run walk-off home run by Nolan in the District tourney, and Brad hitting a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th to score 2 base runners and send the team into the State championship game where they won to advance to the Regional tournament.

Summer Classic…

With the AA Legion season coming to a close, the Boise Capitals took a break and hosted the 2016 Summer Classic, an annual wood bat tournament. Teams from Southern Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington competed in this challenging 4-day tourney. Brad and Nolan continued to support the Caps with their offensive power and speedy coverage in the outfield.

Summer Action Sizzles

The weather isn’t the only thing that is hot this summer, as Brad and Nolan continue to deliver on offense and defense during American Legion play. As players for the Boise Capitals American Legion team, the boys have had hot bats and once on base, they are dangerous base-stealing threats. This weekend’s July 4th tournament in Reno saw several rbi’s and hits, including triples by both and a home run off the scoreboard by Nolan. Their defense remains strong, with web gems in the outfield and outstanding pitching performances by Brad.

Look for more baseball action from the boys this coming week, as they join their teammates and compete against teams from across the Northwest at the annual Summer Classic Wood bat tournament in Boise.

State Championship Begins!

The Idaho State baseball championship games begin this week at Hawks Stadium and the Capital Eagles are ready to defend their 2014 state title. The team finished second in District play this year, and like last year, hope to end the year with a state championship trophy.

Local News Features

Highlights from the Capital Eagles Spring season includes some local news clips featuring Brad and Nolan. During the Bucks Bags tournament, Nolan hits one deep to drive in a run, his first in the tournament. In  game 2, Brad tags up to score another run for the team. In a more recent conference game, Brad went 4-for-4, with a single, double and 2-triples to help secure a victory for the team.

Power on Display in Week 1

In his first at bat of the very first game of the 2015 season, Nolan blasted the first pitch over the wall for a monster 2-run homer. The power offense continued in game 2, with Brad connecting on the first pitch for a leadoff homer for the Capital Eagles. The twins continued to showcase their power offense in the first week, including the game against Eagle High. A first inning triple by Brad and a 2-run homerun by Nolan in the same inning proved to be all the offense Capital needed for a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs, the team they beat for the 2014 Idaho State 5A championship title.

Expect to see more exciting plays at the Bucks Bags Spring Classic to be held March 26-28 at Capital High School.

ID Cubs Scout Team Games Continue

It’s been a busy time for the Idaho Cubs Scout team during September and October. After playing competitive games at Salt Lake Community College, College of Idaho in Caldwell, NNU in Nampa and Spokane Falls Community College in Washington, Brad, Nolan and the rest of the team will head to Ontario, Oregon and Walla Walla, Washington to play the final games of the season. The coaches and colleges have also done a great job of giving the players (and their parents!) a glimpse of a college athlete’s life with tours of their facilities, too.
