It’s been an exciting 2016 American Legion season that has continued past the regular season, as the Boise Capitals are currently playing in the Northwest Regionals in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The team won their 2nd State Legion AA championship in as many years, with all-around team play by the players. Both Brad and Nolan contributed to the excitement, providing defensive plays and timely base hits, including a 3-run walk-off home run by Nolan in the District tourney, and Brad hitting a walk-off double in the bottom of the 10th to score 2 base runners and send the team into the State championship game where they won to advance to the Regional tournament.

Summer Classic…
With the AA Legion season coming to a close, the Boise Capitals took a break and hosted the 2016 Summer Classic, an annual wood bat tournament. Teams from Southern Idaho, Nevada, Oregon and Washington competed in this challenging 4-day tourney. Brad and Nolan continued to support the Caps with their offensive power and speedy coverage in the outfield.
Summer Baseball
On the heels of their freshman season with the TVCC Chukars, Brad and Nolan continue their play during this summer with the Boise Capitals AA American Legion baseball team. Their team recently traveled to Pullman, WA to compete in the 2016 Palouse Summer Series 19u in Pullman, WA. Both Brad and Nolan had a productive tournament, both at the plate and in the outfield.
End of Capital BBall…onto TVCC!
An amazing run of success for Brad, Nolan and the Boise Caps team ended in Cheyenne, Wyoming at the 2015 American Legion AA Northwest Regional tournament. While the team did not advance to the World Series, they put up a good fight, including battling back from a 0-10 deficit to win 12-11 against a Billings, MT team.
Nolan and Brad have had successful careers at Capital High School, including 1st team All conference and Top 40 Showcase for two years in a row, and Team MVP, respectively. They helped their teams compile an impressive championship record, beginning with a JV District championship in 2013; the Idaho 5A State championship in 2014; and the 2015 American Legion AA Area B, East Division District & Idaho State championship. The boys are heading to Ontario to continue their baseball career at Treasure Valley Community College.
State & Regionals
Last week’s American Legion AA State tournament held in Coeur d’Alene was filled with excitement for the Boise Capitals. The nail-biting action included a 2-run walk-off homer by Brad in the 9th inning that helped the Caps advance to the semi-final round, and 4-home runs during the tournament in addition to other base hits by Nolan.
The week ended with the team coming out of the loser’s bracket and playing the first game of the final round against previously unbeaten Lewis-Clark and winning 8-4, that was followed by a winner-take-all second game 5-4 win for the championship. The Caps had built up an early 5-0 lead in the 2nd game and held off a late LC run and bases-loaded in the bottom of the 9th only to pop-up to 2nd base for the final out and a state championship victory for the Boise team. As state champions, the Caps play next in the Northwest Regionals in Cheyenne, Wyoming which includes teams from Alaska, Washington, Oregon, Montana and Wyoming.
